Mary Ellen Geist’s MEASURE OF THE HEART, is her very personal narrative of leaving the fast-paced, high-profile world of broadcast journalism in New York City to come home to Michigan and help care for her father who has suffered from Alzheimer’s for 10+ years. With a delicate balance of humor and profound sadness, Mary Ellen gives voice to the heart-wrenching challenges that hundreds of thousands of us baby boomers now face in caring for our aging parent.

The World is Flat 3.0 -- A Brief History of the 21st Century .
Yes I know that you know that the new flat world of globalization is already here. Still, the updated and expanded 3.0 version of Thomas Friedman's great book provides a vivid and accurate depiction of where we are and where we are heading and is certainly worth reading.
Friedman's main point is what he sees as the dangerous complacency in the U.S. from D.C. down through the school system. Most students are no longer motivated. "In China today, Bill Gates is Britney Spears. In America today, Britney Spears is Britney Spears--and that is our problem."

The 4-Hour Workweek by
Timothy Ferriss
While I’ve been endeavoring in my own way (& with some success) to have as much control as possible over the 4Ws in my life (WHAT you do, WHEN you do it, WHERE you do it, and with WHOM you do it), I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I learned a good deal from Tim Ferriss – and found it a very useful kick-in-the-butt to motivate me take even greater control over my life.
The basis of his premise is simple: Stop letting other people waste your time. It belongs to you and you should protect it at all costs, and free it whenever possible. He gives many resources and details as well as case studies to demonstrate how to apply this method.
